Since the founding of our nation, the United States has failed to live up to its ideals of liberty and justice for all. Our police forces and our system of justice have not acted in accordance with the precept that all men are created equal. Our government has failed to enforce the constitutional mandate that all persons are entitled to equal justice under the law.
To our abiding shame, Black people are still being lynched in this country. The legacy of slavery has left Black Americans with far less than their fair share of the economic pie, and our neighborhoods and our lives remain largely segregated by race more than 50 years after the passage of the Civil Rights Act and Fair Housing Act. Racism is at the root of our failed health care and education systems.
M.E.C.C.A. believes it is time that the American people demand better, for all of our sakes. M.E.C.C.A. supports the movement to end systemic racism and police brutality in the United States. A racist society is incompatible with core Islamic values, and in 2020 it is time to rid our country and our hearts of this scourge.
We encourage everyone to support the movement so that we can finally have equal justice for all in these United States of America.
