Shaykh Ahmad Dabbagh

Shaykh Ahmad Dabbagh is a teacher of Self-Purification whose family lineage links back to Imam Hasan al Basri (rahimahullah). The method of Self-Purification he currently teaches to those under his guidance links back to Sayyidna Abdul Azeez Dabbagh (rahimahullah) and Sayyidna Abdul Qadri al Jilani (rahimahullah) and is known as Tareeqah Muhammadiyah. He has taken these teachings to Turkey, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Italy, Denmark and various places in the Middle East and the West. Recently, with the assistance of his students, he has established three centers of Self-Purification (Zawiyahs) in North Western England and has also launched a television station where various Islamic lectures can be viewed.

At six years of age, the Shaykh had a desire to memorize the Qur’an and he began to learn the Islamic Sciences. He has studied Islamic Beliefs, Jurisprudence, Hadith, Self-Purification, Seerah and other Islamic Sciences gaining Ijazahs (Permissions) from various teachers and Chains of Transmission (Isnad) leading back to important Islamic figures such as Imam Abu Mansur al Maturidi, Imam Abu Hanifa, Sayyidna Abdul Qadir al Jilani and others (rahimahumaAllah). The Shaykh has also received Ijazahs from teachers in several Tareeqahs including the Naqshbandi, Qadiri, Suharwardi and Shadhili-Darqawi Tareeqahs. His first teachers were his grandfather and grandmother (rahimahumaAllah) who were known as pious ascetic servants of Allah. His great grandfather, Shaykh Khayrudeen Auliyah, was a disciple of Shaykh Bahauddeen Zakariyyah Multani Suharwardi (rahimahullah).

Shaykh Ahmad Dabbagh has also studied at the Salford University and University of Central Lancashire, and has gained his BTEC First and National Diploma in Business & Finance. He then achieved his Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration and his DPSI Diploma in Public Services. The Shaykh has worked for the police and prison services in the U.K. He now chooses to drive as a means of livelihood and does not take any wage for the work of religion.

Shaykh Ahmad Dabbagh was born in Pakistan, grew up in Denmark and now resides in Greater Manchester, UK, with his family.

Imam Kemal Cecunjanin

Imam Kemal Cecunjanin was born in Brooklyn, New York. In 1999, he traveled to the Middle East for ten years and studied Arabic at the University of Damascus, Syria. He then moved to Amman, Jordan to study with Sheikh Nuh Ha Mim Keller. While in Amman, Imam Kemal completed the Classical Arabic program at the Qasid Language Institute. He also studied Shafi jurisprudence, logic and theology with Sheikh Qusay Abu S’id; Hanafi jurisprudence with Sheikh Faraz Rabbani; and Arabic and Qur’an with Sheikh Ali Hani. Later he moved to Tarim, Yemen and attended classes at Dar Al-Mostafa and Ribat Tarim. He attended the lectures of Habib Umar Ibn Hafiz and Habib Salim Al-Shatiri. 

Imam Kemal was the Imam at the Islamic Unity Mosque in Astoria, New York. He taught at Jesus Son of Mary Mosque in Stratford, Connecticut and was the lecturer (khatib) and Director of the Iqra Qur’an program at Masjid Al -Noor in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He has also taught at the M.E.C.C.A. Center in New York City for several years. He has traveled extensively to the Middle East, Europe, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Currently, Imam Kemal is the Imam at Jamia-al-Karam, in Monroe Connecticut and is continuing his education at Yale University in New Haven, CT.

Hafidh Abdel-Rahman al-Khattab

 Hafidh Abdel-Rahman al-Khattab from Tétouan, Northen Morocco, is a specialist in the science of Quranic recitation according to the style of Warsh ‘an Nafi’ from the route of al-Azraq. He has completed the memorization of al-Qur’an under his teacher, ash-Shaykh Idris Amaqduf, who is among the most precise reciters in Tétouan, Northen Morocco. He also completed the writing of al-Qur’an twice from his memory upon examination from his Shaykh. In addition to his amazing memory, he mastered the sciences of rasm (Quranic writing) and tajwid (Proper Recitation) of al-Qur’an. He has also received Ijazah (Authorization) from Shaykh Dr. Samir An Nass of Damascus, Syria through the route of the famous Hadith scholars Shaykh Muhammad Ya Sin Al Fadaani and Shaykh ‘Abdullah bin Siddiq Al Ghumari. He has been authorized by his Shuyukh to teach the essential sciences of al-Qur’an, al-‘Aqidah, al-Fiqh, and Arabic language. He is currently an Imam, Teacher and Khatib at Masjid Muhammad of Atlantic City, NJ as well as an Instructor at M.E.C.C.A. in New York City.

Sister Zainab Ismail

Sister Zainab Ismail  has been helping clients achieve their goals in health and fitness for 18 years in New York City. She is graduate fellow of Applied Functional Science from The Gray Institute and an Nforlife nutritional consultant. Zainab has been a facilitator for The National Academy of Sports Medicine and Master Trainer for Free Motion Fitness. Zainab has lectured in several fitness centers here in the US as well as in Hong Kong and Malaysia. As a full-time therapist, she integrates an eclectic approach of soft-tissue therapy, movement conditioning and nutritional consulting in New York City.

Ustadha  Zainab Chaudhry

Ustadha Zainab Chaudhry is a practicing attorney in New York. After graduating law school in 1998, she worked for several years as a judicial law clerk for the New York Court of Appeals. She studied Arabic for  four years at various language institutions in Syria, where she also studied tajweed, Shafi’i fiqh, and several other Islamic sciences at the hands of several traditional teachers and scholars. She currently resides in Albany, New York, and works as an Assistant Solictor General with the NYS Attorney General’s Office.

Ustadha Amina Khawaja

Ustadha Amina Khawaja studied the Islamic sciences in Damascus, Syria from 2003-7 at Ma’had al-Fath al-Islamiyah. There she studied Islamic Jurisprudence, Tafseer, Arabic, Tasawwuf, the Prophetic Biography, and other traditional sciences. Following her studies in Syria, she enrolled at the Islamic University of Islamabad in Pakistan. She dedicated a few years there to studying Arabic literary criticism, lexicon, grammar and rhetoric. She holds two masters degrees: one in Arabic Literature and another in Statistics. Currently, she works full time as a Statistician and teaches at the M.E.C.C.A. center during her free time.

Ustadh Tariq Ameer

Ustadh Tariq Ameer began his formal Islamic Studies during college in Atlanta, Georgia with Ustadh Jamal Hysaw and Shaykh Muhammad Mendes. After graduation he traveled to Tarim, Yemen where he studied at the former Badr Institute and thereafter Dar Al Mustafa. Upon his return to the United States he continued his studies with local teachers including Shaykh Khalil Abdur-Rashid, Dr. Shadee El Masry, as well as teachers from Qibla (formerly known as Sunnipath). Ustadh Tariq has received ijaza in different texts in the subjects of Shafi’i Fiqh, Aqeedah, Hadith terminology, Shamaiil, as well as covered texts without ijaza in Hadith, Arabic, Mantiq, and Usul Fiqh.

Ustadha Wajiha Khalil

Ustadha Wajiha Khalil is an artist, educator, and student of the sacred knowledge. She is passionate about developing interdisciplinary curriculum to help children engage with Islamic learning that helps them shape their perspective and purpose. She is a Homeschooling Mother of three boys, a mixed-media artist, an adoption advocate, and a founding Board Member of America’s First Muslim Adoption Agency, New Star Kafala.
