Mufti Fathi Alam is a specialist in Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and a hafiz of the Qur’an. A native New Yorker, Mufti Fathi attended public school for several years before enrolling in Darul Uloom’s ‘Alim program, where he successfully completed memorization of the Holy Qur’an. He continued his pursuit of the Islamic sciences at Darul Uloom, studying Arabic, Islamic creed (‘aqidah), jurisprudence, Qur’an commentary, hadith, and Islamic history. Mufti Fathi later traveled to Johannesburg, South Africa and continued his studies at Darul Uloom Azaadville, later specializing in jurisprudence and fatawa (legal verdicts).
He is currently teaching Arabic and jurisprudence at Darul Uloom in Jamaica while pursuing a degree in Middle Eastern Studies and Economics at Queens College, City University of New York.
